Peggy Joan Williams went to be with her Lord, Saturday, October 24, 2026.
A memorial service and celebration of Peggy’s life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.
Peggy was born in Burkburnett, Texas on December 21, 1932, to Eddie Dale Lawson and Mabel Audas Lawson. She spent her early years in Gladewater and Alabama where her father worked in the oil fields and construction. The family eventually settled in Sealy, Texas, where Peggy made great friends and was a high school cheerleader.
During her senior year she met the love of her life, John “Waco” Williams, who had just moved to town working for the MKT railroad. Peggy graduated high school in 1950, and she and Waco married on July 5th, 1951. They were blessed with three sons, Terry, Dale, and Scott, and one daughter, Kelly.
Early in their marriage they moved to Texas City where Waco worked at the Union Carbide plant until his retirement in 1993. Peggy was a stay-at-home mom until the nest was empty. She became a successful realtor in Texas City. In 1993 Peggy and Waco moved to a farm in Waco to be closer to the kids and grandkids. Peggy and Waco spent almost 20 years at the farm on Hwy 6, where Waco trained bird dogs, and Peggy explored her love of painting. After Waco passed, the farm was sold to Chip and Joanna Gaines. The Gaines built Peggy a new home at their new development in Waco.
Peggy was known by everyone she knew as the most loving and positive person. She was always happy and focused on the bright side of life. She loved painting, playing Bridge, singing in the church choir, watching the Houston Astros baseball team, and any chance she got to spend time with her kids or grandkids. She was a fabulous cook and loved to make everyone’s favorite dishes, especially during the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Waco; her sister Phyllis; her son, Scott, and her beloved grandson, Cody.
She is survived by her sons, Terry, and wife Sheri of Camp Creek; son Dale, and wife Laura of Waco; daughter, Kelly, and husband Chris of Prosper; grandchildren, Brandy Hull, and husband Scott, Tara Stovall, and husband J. D., Brady Williams, and wife Kimberly, Brook Henry, and husband Michael, Morgan Dietrick, and husband Ethan, Chase Haltiner, and wife Kylen and Noah Haltiner; great grandchildren, Hailey, Macy, and William Hull, Brianna, Brandon, and Shepard Stovall, Charley Williams and Jack Williams, Logan Henry and Jonah Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
We will all miss Peggy’s sparkling personality, her positivity and joy for life.
Peggy spent the last seven years at Providence ST. Catherine’s, mentally sharp but physically unable to walk. They provided her with excellent care and Peggy would be happy if any memorials would be directed to Providence Village, ST. Catherine’s 3rd Floor.
We invite you to leave a message or memory of Peggy in her “Memorial Guestbook” at www.WHBfamily.com.
