Ralph Burlin Frank, 90, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at his residence.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 26, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.
Ralph Burlin Frank lived a life filled with faith, adventure, hard work, and an extraordinary ability to connect with people. Never one to meet a stranger, Ralph could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, on just about any subject. His outgoing personality, curiosity, and love of life made him someone people naturally enjoyed being around.
Born on September 14, 1936, in Hill County, Texas, Ralph was the only child of Jack Burlin Frank and Pearl Estell McClure Frank. As an only child, Ralph grew up accustomed to being the center of attention—and, by his family’s affectionate account, perhaps a little spoiled. That bit of charm stayed with him throughout his life and was part of what made him uniquely Ralph.
A man of deep faith and a devoted member of the Church of Christ, Ralph’s spiritual life was an important part of who he was. He was actively involved in the church throughout much of his adult life, finding purpose, fellowship, and strength in his relationship with God. His faith remained a guiding influence throughout his life.
Ralph had an adventurous spirit and a wide variety of interests. Whether riding motorcycles, spending time with his horses, flying airplanes, or enjoying a peaceful day fishing, he believed in experiencing all that life had to offer. He had a genuine enthusiasm for life and was always ready for a new experience.
Ralph was also a man who took great pride in his appearance, and he was never anything less than impeccably dressed. Even his blue jeans were perfectly pressed, paired with a crisp, starched shirt and polished boots. His signature accessories included a gold writing pen, almost always tucked into his pocket, along with his initial pin, watch, and bracelet. When the occasion called for a suit, it fit him perfectly. And then there was his beautiful white hair, which became something of a trademark. The ladies couldn’t resist admiring it, and many simply had to reach out and touch it. Ralph, with his outgoing personality and unmistakable charm, took it all in stride.
After serving his country in the United States Army, including time stationed in Germany and at Fort Hood, Texas, Ralph built a successful career as an insurance claims adjuster. He owned and operated his own business before pursuing catastrophe claims adjusting, a career that allowed him to travel extensively. His work took him to many places, where his natural gift for conversation undoubtedly served him well.
In 1958, Ralph married Helen Lois Carroll, beginning a marriage that would span 68 years. The two were truly inseparable, sharing their lives side by side through the years. Whether at home, traveling, or simply enjoying everyday moments, Ralph and Helen were rarely far from one another. Together, they raised two children, Michael Burlin Frank and Cynthia Frank Hayes, and built a life centered around family and their many shared experiences.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Burlin Frank and Pearl Estell McClure Frank, and his beloved son, Michael Burlin Frank.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Lois Carroll Frank; and his daughter, Cynthia Frank Hayes and her husband, Terry.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bradley Burlin Frank and his wife, Catalina, Luther (Trey) Brown III and his wife, Katy, and Tara Brown Hall and her husband, Jake; step-grandchildren, Riley Hayes and his wife, Apryle, and Sophie Hayes Wallace and her husband, Sam; and six great-grandchildren, Rowe, Milo, and Luther V Brown, Luke and Beau Hall, and Ophelia Hayes.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jeff Sanders, Rodney Crane, Representative Pat Curry, Michele Groetzinger, and Denise Pike for their kindness, friendship, and support. Special thanks are also extended to Diane Pierce, who generously gave her time to sit with Ralph and keep him company while Helen was away running errands. Her thoughtfulness and companionship were deeply appreciated.
A very special thank-you goes to Ralph’s three angels, Sharon Wright, Yolanda Vega, and Kia Drake, whose loving care, compassion, and devotion brought comfort and dignity to his final days. The family is also deeply grateful to Blue Bonnet Hospice, especially Rhonda Machac, Lori Williams, Kim Cutburth, and Julie Roberts, for their extraordinary care, guidance, and kindness during this difficult time. Each of these individuals made a meaningful difference in Ralph’s life and in the lives of those who loved him.
Above all, Ralph will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his adventurous spirit, his gift for conversation, and his love of life. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, treasured memories, and a legacy that will continue through the generations of his family.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family invites you to leave a message or memory for Ralph in his “Memorial Guestbook” at www.WHBfamily.com.
