Robert Lee Schuetze

Robert Lee Schuetze passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Waco, Texas at the age of 96.

Services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in our chapel with a burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Robert was born on February 27, 1930, in Burlington, Texas, to Edward Joe Schuetze and Eleanora Aigner Schuetze.

Robert was baptized on April 6, 1930, and confirmed in his church in October 1944, where he developed a lifelong foundation of faith. He attended Rosebud High School before continuing his education at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he earned his degree in Physical Therapy.

A proud veteran, Robert honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Corporal Specialist III and served from December 9, 1953, until November 29, 1955.

On February 17, 1954, Robert married the love of his life, Doris Jean Swanzy Schuetze. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with four children, creating a legacy centered on faith, family, and service.

Following his military service, Robert dedicated his professional life to helping others as a physical therapist. He faithfully served veterans at the Veterans Administration Hospital until his retirement on July 3, 1987. His compassion, professionalism, and commitment to caring for others touched countless lives throughout his career.

Robert will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, healthcare professional, and faithful servant. His quiet strength, steadfast work ethic, and unwavering dedication to his family, faith, and community will remain a lasting inspiration to all who knew and loved him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Joe Schuetze and Eleanora Aigner Schuetze; his brother, Clarence Schuetze; his sister, Verena Cravatt; and his son-in-law, Gary Bray.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Doris Jean Schuetze of Waco, Texas; daughter, Brenda Marie Schuetze Martin and her husband, Ron, of Grapeland, Texas; daughter, Karen Lynn Schuetze Mullens and her husband, Steven, of Waco, Texas; daughter, Marcia Jean Schuetze Bray of Gatesville, Texas; son, Kenneth Ross Schuetze and his wife, Diane, of Waco, Texas; a sister, Shirley Dornhoefer and husband Albert of Pasadena, Texas; along with 9 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Pallbearers will be Mike Strich, Bradley Mullens, Brandon Mullens, Cody Bray, Kirk Jones, Travis Fairchild, Tim Braun, Colin Schuetze, and Gunner Wagner.

Memorials may be made in Robert's memory to Meals on Wheels or St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
