Timothy Charles Kneipp

Timothy Charles Kneipp, 66, of Waco, passed away peacefully early in the morning on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Waco. He was a man who loved his faith, his family and football.

Tim was born on August 16, 1960, to the late Joan and Frederick W. Kneipp in West Memphis, Arkansas. The youngest of five children, Tim was the son of an Episcopal priest and a mother, who was a lifelong school teacher. After his father accepted the call to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, the family moved to Waco. Tim served as an acolyte at St. Alban’s and had many memories associated with the church, which sustained him his whole life. He especially remembered as a child ringing the church bells, particularly for midnight services on Christmas Eve. Although Tim’s father passed away when Tim was 11, he carried with him the life lessons he learned from his dad.

An athlete in high school, Tim played football and loved the game so much that as an adult he often could be found watching a high school game where he had no affiliation with either team. He also loved airplanes, an interest he inherited from his father, who had been an aircrewman during World War II. The two would drive to Love Field in Dallas to watch airplanes take off and land.

During and after high school, while living in Waco, Tim began a career as a shoe salesman at Cox’s Department Store and quickly developed a knack for it. He roomed with his brothers in several apartments around Waco, and eventually they moved to a trailer on the Brazos River several miles outside of town. What escapades they had at that trailer! Once, they nearly set a field on fire with a skyrocket on July 4th and finally managed to put it out by running back and forth with buckets of water.

Tim later moved to Dallas, where he became a successful shoe salesman at Nordstrom. Known as “Joker” because of his wide smile, he even sold shoes to some of the Dallas Cowboys. While in Dallas, he also worked for five years as a halfway house manager. He enjoyed spending time in Galveston, especially on the beach, and loved boating and fishing.

When his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Tim left his life in Dallas to care for her in Waco until her passing on January 30, 2024. He took her to lunch every day and would even stop along the Brazos River between Cameron Park and Baylor to fish for a while as she watched from the car. He was a blessing to his mother and to his siblings.

In 2020, Tim met Catherine Campbell and knew on their first date that he had found his soulmate. During a whirlwind courtship, the two FaceTimed every day while Catherine was working in Connecticut. He proposed to Catherine on her 50th birthday. They married on June 19, 2021. Tim was Catherine’s biggest cheerleader and took great pride in her volunteer work. When Catherine hosted meetings at their home, Tim would often pop in to hand out tomatoes he had grown in the garden or a jar of pickles he had made from seasonal vegetables. His generosity and enthusiasm for Catherine and the things she cared about were a reflection of the joy he found in supporting the people he loved.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Horton Kneipp.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; his four children, David; Leah Mendes and her husband, Kyle, and their children, Montana and Winnie; Annie Rooney and her husband, CJ; and Blake. He is also survived by his sister, Rebecca, and her husband, Barry Patengill; his brothers, Paul Kneipp and Stephen Kneipp and his wife, Julie; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Waco.
