Mr. Tommy Ross Simms went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2021. Ross was born in McLennan County on September 17, 1939, to the late Walter and Fannie Mae Simms. Ross was educated in Waco schools and his beloved Moore High. He worked at Kendrick Tire for more than forty years. He served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. Ross was well known in the South Waco Community and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church. Ross loved sports and especially his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He is preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Cooper; and brother, Walter C. Simms. Ross leaves to cherish his memory his wife, LaQuesha Simms; parents-in-law, Willie and Yolanda Perkins; daughters, Dianne Hardin, of Waco, Texas, Ruthie Simms, of Waco, Nikki Simms, of Oklahoma, and LaParis Simms, of Waco. Ross is also survived by his son, Tommy Simms, Jr; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bobby Perkins, LaQuaker Brown, Willie, Jr., and Myrce’tez Perkins, and Compton and Pleasure Noble. Ross leaves two grandsons, Robert Hardin, Jr. (RJ), of Desoto, Texas, and Walter Hardin, of Cedar Hill, Texas; and three great granddaughters, Ryan Hardin, of Cedar Hill, Texas, Amarianna Hardin, of Waco, and Gianni Love Carter, of Waco. Ross also leaves his cherished nieces, Trenia L. Cooper, and Zhari A. Cooper, of Waco. They affectionately called him “Uncle Ross.” Ross was a good man, had a good heart, and would help anyone at any time. He was a true veteran. Ross’s pallbearers will be Robert Hardin, Jr., Walter Hardin, Tommy Simms, Derrick Martin, Bobby Perkins, Willie Perkins II, Brandon Taylor, Willie Perkins, Sr., and Tommy Simms, Jr.
