Versie Lou Ortiz

Versie Ortiz, 65, of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully Monday, November 18, 2024, at Hillcrest hospital after complications from a heart attack. After a long battle with cancer, she has finally gone home to her Lord and Savior. 

Versie was born in Waco, Texas. She was the daughter of William Banks and Doris Whited. She graduated from Richfield High School. Versie spent most of her life working as a home healthcare nurse and could always be found at her children’s schools or on a baseball field. 

Versie had a smile that would light up a room and a heart the size of Texas. She enjoyed playing pool, twirling on the dance floor, her tv shows, and her family, especially her grandkids. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donald Banks; sister, Sinda Castillo; and son, Donnie Banks. 

Versie is survived by her son and daughter in law —Justin and Lindsey Phillips and their children Ben, Matt, Price-Shane, and Oaklin-Grace; daughter and son in law, CJ and Amanda Craw and their daughter Jae Jae Irene and son Connor; daughter and son in law, GW and Heather Heath and their children, Mason and Mylee; and son, Benjamin Ortiz, and one great-grand child.
