Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Victorious Life Church, located on Interstate 35 in Robinson, Texas. Mr. Wendell Mackey will be interred at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

He was a man of deep and steady faith, whose love for the Lord guided the way he lived each day. That faith was not just something he spoke about—it was something he showed in his kindness, his patience, and the way he cared for others. At the center of his life was his beloved wife, whom he loved with unwavering devotion for 42 years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, trust, and enduring partnership. He was a proud and devoted father, and an even prouder grandfather. His children and grandchildren were among his greatest joys, and he took every opportunity to support them, encourage them, and remind them how deeply they were loved. His family was his heart, and he carried that love with him in everything he did.

Wendell also served his country with honor and dedication in the United States Army for 5 years and 9 months, from 1978 to 1982. As a 64C10 Motor Transportation Operator, he carried out his duties with commitment and pride. He achieved the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4) and was awarded both the Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon—recognitions of his faithful service and time spent abroad. His military years reflected the same sense of responsibility and strength of character that defined the rest of his life.

To his friends, he was loyal, dependable, and full of warmth. He had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and his presence brought comfort and laughter to those around him. He truly loved life—not just in the big moments, but in the simple, quiet ones as well.

One of his greatest pleasures was fishing. It was more than a pastime to him—it was a place of peace, reflection, and joy. Whether he was out on the water at sunrise or simply casting a line with loved ones nearby, those moments brought him a special kind of happiness.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and a life well lived. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his strong values, and the deep love he had for his family, his friends, and the life he was so grateful to live.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Viola Joyce and Clifford Henry Mackey; his brothers, Clifford and Joseph Mackey; his sisters-in-law, Linda Rarick and Gayle Mackey; his loving daughter-in-law, Penny Mackey; his grandson, Wendell Mackey III; and his granddaughter, Olayonne Mackey.

Wendell is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 42 years, Frances; his sons, Wendell Jr. and wife Chamer, Derrick, Stephen, David, Nathan Mackey and wife Charla Mackey, Jeremy and wife Chloe Mackey, and Wendell Mackey Jr. and his wife Lovely; his daughters, Lateesha Terrance and Rachceda Palapala; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored him; and his siblings, Robert, Larry, and Barbara, along with his niece.

As I sit in Heaven And watch you everyday, I try and let you know with signs, I never went away. I hear you when you're laughing, and I watch you as you sleep, I even place my arms around you, to calm you as you weep. I see you wish the days away, Begging to have me home, So I try and send you signs, so you know you're not alone. Don't feel guilty that you have life, life that was denied to me, Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see! So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free then I'll know with each breath you take, you'll be taking one for me.
