Willie Mae Cornwell

Willie Mae Nail Cornwell, 96, went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2005. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, with the Rev. Rebecca Whitaker officiating. A private burial will be held in Denton, Texas. Willie Mae was born in Denton County, Texas to W. B. and Nona Burrow Nail on May 28, 1909. She graduated from Lewisville High School and Texas State College for Women. She taught home economics in various Central Texas high schools, moving to Waco in 1936 and teaching at South Bosque/Midway High School until retiring in 1973. She married Eugene Howe Cornwell, Sr., a widower with two young sons, in August, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Eugene Cornwell, Jr., and two sisters. She has been a member of Central Presbyterian Church for over 67 years, and has served the Lord since nine years of age in word and deed. Willie Mae enjoyed sewing, especially for underprivileged children. She is survived by a son, Bill G. Cornwell, and wife Nana; brother, Robert L. Nail, and wife Iva Lee; granddaughters, Debra Moore and Kathy Delson; grandson, James Hunt; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
