Zoe was born Nov. 27, 1957, the daughter of Clarence and Charlotte Carpenter. She grew up in Waco, attended the former Richfield High School, and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in special education. She invested much time and energy in the daily activities of her life in Waco, including gardening and household support for family and friends. She avidly followed the activities of her children and grandchildren in three states.
